Will you be seen?
Research shows that most cyclists overestimate how visible they are by over 700%. Make sure that you stand out in the saddle by using daytime running lights on every ride and wearing hi-vis to contrast with your surroundings.
Read our tips for How. To. Be. Seen.
Use daytime running lights on every ride
If you only do one thing, do this. Using front and rear lights on every ride is an easy thing you can do to stand out to motorists on the road
Opt for hi-vis clothing
Visibility relies on contrast. Wearing brightly coloured or fluorescent clothing and a hi-vis helmet helps you to stand out from your environment so drivers have a better chance of noticing you out on the road
Highlight your body’s moving parts
Our brains have the uncanny ability to recognise other human beings. This is called ‘sensitivity to biomotion’ and it’s the reason why you should always highlight your body’s moving parts when you ride.
